What is nano-screening?

Up to now, there is no generally applicable measurement procedure to check material in regards to the EU definition of a nanomaterial. This is due to the facts:

a) Suitable material-specific dispersion rules have to be developed and established for the required number distribution.
b) Statistical requirements are difficult to fulfil for real-world samples, due to their often polydisperse nature.
c) Varying morphologies (platelets, rods, fibers) of particles cannot be measured or are not considered at all.
d) In products, nanomaterials are formulated in the presence of other particles (e.g., on a micrometer scale).

To solve these problems, we offer nano-screening, in which the necessary precise combinations of measurement methods are worked out in various modules. The modules build apron each other so that the details of the following work package result in the know-how of the previous module and the knowledge gained during the project.
